Researchers from the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering of the University of Cantabria as well as experts from APRIA Systems have recently published a new article in the special issue “Membrane Technologies for Resource Recovery” of the journal “Membranes“. The article shows the promising results of the LIFE-2-ACID project related to the evaluation of membrane-based solvent extraction technology (MBSX) at pilot plant scale for the selective separation of zinc from spent pickling acids (SPA), as a purification step prior to zinc electrowinning (EW).
